Stage 3 – Squids Coaching

Overview

Squids Coaching introduces kids to our Club’s junior dinghy class – the Sabot. Kids will sail either 1 Up (by themselves) or 2 Up (with someone) in a club Sabot learning how to make the boat go faster and playing more games all while still under the guidance and support of the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.

BSS have 8 club Sabots available for Squids Coaching sessions

Information

When

Squids Coaching sessions are held over 23 Saturdays during the sailing season from Sept to April.

 

Times

10.30am to 12.30pm Saturday

 

Prerequisites

Completion of the Start Sailing Course or if the sailor has previous sailing experience this will be assessed by the Club Coach

 

What to Bring   

Clothes & Shoes - wear ones you don't mind getting wet

A towel and a change of clothes and shoes.
Drink Bottle, Hat & Sunscreen

 

What’s included

A 2 hour Squids Coaching session in one of our club’s Sabot dinghies

Use of a club buoyancy vest (PFD)

 

Parent Involvement

As a parent or guardian of a Junior Sailor we encourage you to become involved. Being involved in the rigging and de-rigging of boats, helping in support boats and learning some basic sailing concepts is a great way to support your Junior sailor.

 

Cost

Squids Coaching is all inclusive with a Junior LTS Membership

  • Junior LTS Membership – $390 per season for the 1st child and $300 per season for further children

An Associate Membership for one Parent/Guardian is included in this membership package
