New RS Quest boats have arrived

On behalf of the Committee and members of Brisbane Sailing Squadron, I am delighted to confirm that with the support of Lend Lease and the Kingford Smith Drive Upgrade project the Squadron has embarked upon our own upgrade project, involving our junior sail training program. Support funding from Lend Lease has been applied to the Squadron’s progressive replacement of its ageing fleet of sail training boats. Late last year, the Squadron placed an order for four new RS Quest sail training boats and the first two of these new training boats were delivered last week. The addition of these new modern training boats will enable the Squadron to enhance and expand our junior learn to sail and skills development programs. This new training boat fleet, which will be expanded over time, will be a regular sight on the river alongside the KSD upgrade, in particular in the vicinity of the enhanced Cameron Rocks reserve.

Saturday 24th March is the last day of our current sailing season and it is traditional for the local Brisbane City Councillor to attend the club and start the race for the Toogoolawah Cup. Local Councillor Kara Cook will be in attendance this Saturday between 12:30 and 2pm and we will be taking the opportunity to christen the first of the new training boats.

The Squadron welcomes all club members to attend.
